Free-floating surface plants derive their nutrient needs directly from
the water. They are not attached to the bottom. Common types are Duckweed,
Watermeal (Wolffia), Star Duckweed and Water Hyacinth. These plants reproduce
throughout the growing season. Whole pond treatment is recommended for
thorough and longer-term control. Free-floating plants can quickly cover
an entire pond.

floats on the surface. It has a minute root that hangs

on the water. This one is often mistaken for algae or

TIP: In ponds with constant flow Sonar
may not have sufficient contact time to control certain
plants. Reward
herbicide is absorbed quickly by plants and will be a
good alternative in a high turn-over flow situation. |
